As the sun sets\, the community will gather for a meaningful luminaria ceremony to honor those lost and reflect on the journey of survivors\, while providing everyone an opportunity to fight back through fundraising and local advocacy. Whether you are walking the track or cheering from the sidelines\, your presence helps celebrate life and support the ongoing mission to finish the fight against every cancer. SUMMARY:Sanford Block Party 2026
DESCRIPTION:Help spruce up a neighborhood in Sanford at the 14th annual Sanford Block Party! The Sanford Block Party is an annual event that targets a Sanford neighborhood for a day of sprucing up that includes light carpentry\, painting\, and landscaping! The event brings together elected officials\, municipal staff\, churches\, youth organizations\, the community\, and neighbors for a day of fellowship that helps the greater good. The purpose of the Sanford Block Party is to help maintain Sanford’s housing stock\, beautify its corridors\, and enable homeowners to stay in their homes as long as possible. \nInformation for this year’s event will be available soon! The date will be Saturday\, April 25th. Registration and breakfast will start at 8AM. Work assignments begin at 8:30AM. Lunch is at 12PM. The event ends at 3PM. \nThis year’s hosts are St. James AME Church and Jonesboro UMC.\n• • • LOCATION • • •\nPortions of Washington Avenue\, Boykin Avenue\, Dudley Street\, Crestview Street\, Booker Street\, Bullock Circle and Horton Circle. \nVolunteer Needs: Anyone is welcome to come volunteer\, whether as an individual or with a group. \nWork assignments will include light carpentry\, painting\, mowing\, raking\, and other general landscaping. We ask that volunteers bring their own tools if they can\, including rakes\, shovels\, painting tools\, lawn mowers\, weed eaters\, gloves\, etc. \nDonations Needed: This project requires repair and landscaping tools and materials\, as well as food\, beverages\, and entertainment for those who volunteer.
