DESCRIPTION:Picture This: Writing Poetry from Photographs at Central Carolina Community College on Tuesday\, June 23rd from 7:00PM-8:15PM! In this free 75-minute program\, published poet and experienced creative writing teacher Ty Stumpf will guide participants to find their poetic voice inspired by photographs. Participants should bring or have access to a favorite photograph—old or new\, personal or famous.\nParticipants will explore ekphrastic poetry\, the art of writing in response to visual images\, using their own photos as creative inspiration. Through examples\, guided prompts\, discussion\, and writing time\, poets of all experience levels are welcome to transform memory\, observation\, and emotion into verse.\nParticipants will leave with free poetry materials including writing workbooks and steps for submitting to literary magazines for possible publication.\nTo reserve a space or for questions\, contact Bianka Stumpf at bstumpf@cccc.edu or 919-718-7470.\nThis project was supported by The Lee County Arts Council and the North Carolina Arts Council\, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources.

Horsin’ Around 4-H is a highly active equine club open to members in Lee and surrounding counties. We’d love to welcome your family! Our club blends hands-on horse learning\, personal growth\, and plenty of fun\, all in a supportive\, down-to-earth environment. \nWhat We Do: We explore horse knowledge\, riding skills\, and horsemanship through real experiences. Members build confidence\, practice public speaking\, learn teamwork\, and form strong friendships through activities like: Farm visits & demonstrations\, Community service projects\, Horsebowl and Hippology competitions\, Fair exhibition opportunities\, Art\, photography\, and creative horse-related projects \nFor families with horses and young riders\, we also offer: Group practices & ride days\, Local shows\, Trail rides \nMeeting Schedule: We meet twice a month on Thursday evenings (the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month) 6PM at the Lee County Extension Office in Sanford.
