Picture This: Writing Poetry from Photographs

Picture This: Writing Poetry from Photographs at Central Carolina Community College on Tuesday, June 23rd from 7:00PM-8:15PM! In this free 75-minute program, published poet and experienced creative writing teacher Ty Stumpf will guide participants to find their poetic voice inspired by photographs. Participants should bring or have access to a favorite photograph—old or new, personal or famous.
Participants will explore ekphrastic poetry, the art of writing in response to visual images, using their own photos as creative inspiration. Through examples, guided prompts, discussion, and writing time, poets of all experience levels are welcome to transform memory, observation, and emotion into verse.
Participants will leave with free poetry materials including writing workbooks and steps for submitting to literary magazines for possible publication.
